Camp Morty
You can help us to give Westchester’s most vulnerable children a summer that they’ll remember for a lifetime! Camp Morty provides hundreds of Westchester County children per year with a chance to experience a traditional summer camp and make lifelong memories.
Westchester Parks Foundation, in partnership with the Westchester County Parks Department, the Department of Social Services, and the Department of Community Mental Health, operates Camp Morty, a sleep-away camp. Campers come from foster care, live in homeless shelters, in child protective services, or otherwise receive services from Westchester County DSS to be eligible for Camp Morty.
Camp Morty offers a quality outdoor residential camp experience for children residing in underserved communities in Westchester County. Our philosophy is to provide each camper with a unique opportunity for personal development, working with others and building confidence to succeed. Our number one goal is to create an exciting, fun-filled environment where children can feel safe, and where they can learn to educate the mind, body and spirit. We teach skills in a gentle, supportive way, and emphasize values such as concern for others, cooperation, sportsmanship and environmental awareness. Camp Morty is in its fourteenth year of operation and boasts a diverse and global staff.
Camp Morty is located within the 1,081 acre Sal J Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem. The park boasts five lakes, a ropes challenge course, and spectacular overlook which makes for a breathtaking hiking destination.
Camp Morty operates at no cost to participating families. Camp Morty accepts monetary and in-kind donations to help us maintain our free program. Last year through the help of our supporters, Camp Morty provided every camper with backpacks, school supplies, books, and additional activities and toys for participants.
In 2018, Westchester Parks Foundation received a grant from Impact100 for $90,000 to create a new activity pavilion at Sal J. Prezioso Park in North Salem. Additionally, Westchester Parks Foundation has received grants from the Westchester Community
Foundation for three consecutive years in an effort to support
homeless families with challenges around transportation to camp.
