Join Westchester Parks Foundation's volunteer citizen science project in White Plains on the Bronx River Reservation. Sponsored by PepsiCo.
This program addresses floatable trash, one of the three major water quality issues on the Bronx River. Volunteers participate in real science, through hands-on experiences. The information we will collect helps find the sources and stops trash from entering the river in the first place. The project engages volunteers by promoting outreach to local businesses whose products end up in and along the river, especially uniting messaging around the harm to our waterways caused by non-biodegradable products.
Volunteers will be on land and also wear waders in the river & help us count the bottles, cans, straws, & more we find in the trash boom and on the pathway nearby.
We will meet at the Westchester County Center Parking Lot East & walk the path to the project site together.
Waders & gloves will be provided but please bring your own water. Volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty and closed toe shoes.
