Winter Greenternship

The Volunteer Program is integral to WPF’s mission and leads groups of all sizes through our stewardship initiatives. Since 2015, we have hosted over 25,000 individuals who have donated 76,000 hours of service to Westchester County’s parks. Our volunteers help us achieve our mission by accomplishing hands-on projects in the parks and adding to our team behind the scenes at the WPF office.

Westchester Parks Foundation is seeking young environmentalists ages 15-19 to participate in our winter internship program. Greenterns will work with WPF and Westchester County Parks to support conservation in our parks, particularly to learn about and help address Beech Leaf Disease.

Please note: this work will take place outdoors in winter and early spring. Unless it affects safety, we will work in all weather conditions. Please be prepared to stay warm and work outside!

This program will take place over 4 weeks (with a rain/snow date) in various Westchester County Parks, mainly in the White Plains area. Greenterns will learn about conservation in our parks, invasive species, and the work that’s being done to address Beech Leaf Disease while completing hands-on work to encourage forest restoration.

Interviews will be conducted in late January to early February and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
